North Stradbroke Island

We left Mt. Nebo for Stradbroke Island hearing just wonderful things from everyone about this little gem of an island.  True enough, Straddie was a gem!  We camped right on the beach overlooking the ocean, watching the beautiful stars at night and falling asleep to the waves. The wildlife was in abundance with “pippi” digging (like a clam, it burries itself under the sand), sea eagles, dolphins riding waves, crabs, schools of fish, roos hopping along the beach and even sea turtles.  It was whale migration season too, so plenty of whales migrating North to the equator to have their babies.  Sadly, we did see a young whale that didn’t make it and rolled up to shore.  Haven’t ever seen that before!
